One way I prep for NanoWriMo is by listening repeatedly to the playlist I made during the character mapping and outlining process. It helps me to connect on another level with the characters and settings I am delving into.Sometimes it's a little awkward, say if a character only likes death metal, gangster rap, or is into bluegrass renditions of Puccini. For the most part, it is a fun way to stay in sync with the mood I'm going to establish in my novel.
